So darn close...
There are plenty of options out there for those wanting a representation of Blitzwing. Some official, some non. Many released, some still to come. There may be other figures that have and will exceed quality control on this guy, but none will be able to touch his likeness. How great does this guy look? So good that I had to overlook his faults and purchase him in spite of having already committed to the upcoming FansToys release. The issues with Ditkas knees and overall stability are well documented. KFC and TCP get 5 stars for not only addressing the issue but doing so pretty darn promptly after initial release. You'll get some replacement parts for both the knees and ankles. Installation is pretty straight forward with the only real hindrance being some extremely tight screws. The knee replacements work like a charm, however the ankle replacements fail to help stability matters at all. In fact, one of my ankle replacements was improperly molded and was incapable of being used. The replacement kit IS an improvement, but is IS NOT a fix. It's really a shame that KFC designed such a gorgeous piece but either rushed the product to market, or just gave up towards the end of production. Especially after releasing top notch figures like Simba and the Junkion duo, all excellent representations with excellent quality control. So close! So what does all this mean? Simply that Ditka is a gorgeous figure with faults. Both gorgeous and flawed. While he won't stand up to frequent handling, he'll look amazing posed on a shelf. While his bot mode has his issues, both alt modes are excellent and come with tons of accessories. I can't not like this figure, and I don't regret my purchase at all. I will support KFC in future, and hope that continue to improve their process. If playability is your thing, this guy isn't for you. If you are more of a collector who appreciates displayability, you can't do any better than Ditka. If you were a supporter of XTB Apollyon, you'll be happy with Ditka.
