MakeToys MTRM-08 DESPOTRON

Overall, I really love this guy. He's intimidating, expressive, and just a joy to mess around with. For those who like the recent trend of MP toys being 3D clones of 30 year old animation, leaked photos heavily hint that Megatron will soon get an official, cartoon accurate figure. For those that want a brute who looks like he can go toe-to-toe with Prime, boss Devastator and Bruticus around, and slap Starscream silly and enjoy every second of it, I highly recommend Despotron. His heavy Dreamwave Comics-inspired look allows you to have him as well as the cartoon accurate figure coming in 2017, and will easily rank among the top figures of 2016.

The best Megatron on the market. Silver like he should be, with a sizeable cannon and a good heft for the gun mode. His transformation is a joy, with the only parts-forming being the removal of the scope/arm canon between modes. The various expressions are a nice benefit, and the energon mace is nice, though a slightly shorter chain in purple would have been nicer. My figure sadly has some weak ankles that cause him to have difficulty standing without careful posing, but I'm not sure if it's not just a quirk in my particular figure. I absolutely love Desptrotron squaring off against MP-10 in my display wall.

Maketoys has nailed the Masterpiece style Megatron with Despotron here. His transformation is fun and not overly complicated. The alt-mode is over-sized for the sake of his robot mode, but that's not really a problem. His poseability is great, as one would expect from a Maketoys figure. For the price, Despotron is an excellent figure. You almost wouldn't believe he can transform!
